Living beside the busiest roundabout in Northern Ireland gives plenty of opportunity for watching the world go by. Sandyknowes Blog is the personal blog of Niall Lockhart (minister of Ballyhenry). Pull in and have a read…

This Sunday we meet at 11am for our morning service. We come to the third part of our series on David, and this week we will be unpacking the story of David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17). The basics of this story are well known but you might find it helpful to read through the text in advance of Sunday. One of my favourite Christian singers was the late Rich Mullins. In 1987 he recorded a song entitled ‘The Trouble with Giants.

This Sunday we meet at 11am when we will be entering in to the second part of the David story looking at 1 Samuel 16 vs 14-23. An Alan Rickman quote will be setting the scene: 'It's a human need to be told stories ... stories .. about who we are, why we are here, where we come from, and what might be possible.' In this talk we will be seeing the sovereign hand of God at work alongside the decline of Saul and the growth of David. As is the norm our service will include Praise Group, supervised creche, full children's provision and teenage Bible Class.

This Sunday we meet at 11am for our first communion service of the new year. We will also be beginning a new series entitled The David Story. This series will see us exploring the fascinating story of David from the Old Testament books of 1 and 2 Samuel. This week our topic is 'Beginnings' and we will be looking at 1 Samuel 16 vs 1-13. Our service will include a supervised crèche, and a full children's provision. Music will be led by our Praise Group.

This weekend we celebrate the second Sunday in advent and as such we will be lighting the second candle on our 'Advent Crown' as our countdown to Christmas continues. In our Bible talk this Sunday (11am) we come near to the end of Paul's letter to the Philippians, looking at Philippians 4 vs 4 - 9.

As you prepare for Sunday morning you might like to reflect upon the invitation and the promise found at the heart of verses 6-7:

This Sunday we meet at 11am for our morning service. Niall will be speaking on the theme of 'Standing Firm' looking at Philippians 4 vs 1-3. In this talk we will be exploring how 'friction' was part of church life in Philippi, where two good people (Euodia and Syntyche) struggled to get on. Paul speaks into this situation, not in panic nor in judgment, but in a way that encourages the church to find a common mind in the Lord Jesus Christ.
