Sandyknowes Blog

Living beside the busiest roundabout in Northern Ireland gives plenty of opportunity for watching the world go by. Sandyknowes Blog is the personal blog of Niall Lockhart (minister of Ballyhenry). Pull in and have a read…

One of the phrases which the Bible uses to describe Sunday is 'the Lord's Day' (see Revelation 1 vs 10). This 'Lord's Day' we meet for worship at 11am and also at 7pm. At our morning service we pick up the next part of our series in Philippians - looking at chapter 3 vs 15-21 under the title 'Towards Maturity.' When Jesus becomes our Lord He begins a process of calling us to grow. We'll be thinking about what this means and how this points us to the future as we unpack Paul's words to his friends in Philippi.

Kirkpatrick Memorial (in Ballyhackamore, East Belfast) is a church that we sometimes drop into when on holiday. This morning Kirkpatrick hosted BBC Radio Ulster's Morning Service. Really would encourage you to take some time out to listen to this service - honest / thoughtful / pointing to Jesus.

This Sunday morning we meet at 11am for our Communion Service. During the service we hope to welcome a number of new folks into the life of the fellowship in Ballyhenry. Niall will be speaking on the next part of our series on Philippians. We'll be looking at Philippians 3 vs 1-14 (do be encouraged to read ahead) where Paul paints two pictures - one of his life before he became a Christian and one of life after becoming a Christian. In this talk we hope to contrast a 'Self Centred Life' and a 'Jesus Centred Life'.

This Sunday we have our annual Service of Remembrance in Ballyhenry at 11am. The service will, as normal, include a supervised crèche and full children's programme. Niall will be speaking on the theme of 'Reflections on Remembrance'. Then at 7pm we meet for our evening service when Lorna Morrison will be speaking. Lorna is a member of Ballyhenry and works with the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES) in the North West of the Province.

This Sunday we meet at 11am for our morning service. This week's service is an 'all age service' where our theme will be 'Perfect Ten' - based around the Ten Commandments. Niall will be speaking and a mixture of folks from within the congregation will be taking part. Then at 7pm Neale Blair will be speaking on the next part of our series on the Lord's Prayer 'Lead us not into temptation.'

While the morning service is all-age we will still have our supervised creche throughout the service.
