Sandyknowes Blog

Living beside the busiest roundabout in Northern Ireland gives plenty of opportunity for watching the world go by. Sandyknowes Blog is the personal blog of Niall Lockhart (minister of Ballyhenry). Pull in and have a read…

This Sunday morning at 11am we continue with the next part of our series looking at 'The David Story'. This week we will be covering a decade of David's life that runs from 1 Samuel 21 - 2 Samuel 6. David starts this period of his life as a fugitive on the run and ends as King over all Judah and Israel. As we track through these episodes of David's life we will see how his experiences are mirrored in words that David himself wrote in Psalm 23 where in a very personal way he came to describe the Lord as 'my shephered'.

This Sunday at 11am we have our annual Thinking Day Service when we welcome girls from our Rainbows, Brownies and Guides along to church. The girls will take part and our guest speaker will be Eileen Jones a former member of Girl Guides in Ballyhenry. The service will include a supervised creche and will finish up with a cup of tea and bisuits in the Cliftonville Hall.

This Sunday morning we gather in Ballyhenry at 11am for the next part of our series on the life of David. We'll be working through 1 Samuel chapters 18-20 under the overall theme of 'Friendship.' Morning service includes crèche, teenage Bible Class and full children's provision. Then at 7pm we take in the next part of our series 'A Message Worth Sharing', when our title will be 'God's part and our part.' The evening service will include a prayer focus on the work of Sewing Seeds, Men's Football and Boys' Club. (There is also a time of prayer at 6.30pm).

I've been listening to this song recently - it's called 'Call on the Name' and is sung by 'The Vertical Church Band'. Great words and really well set on YouTube. To watch/ listen click here.

I will call on the name
I will call on the name of the Lord
My God is greater
Find my strength in the name
Find my strength in the name of the Lord
Jesus, my Saviour

This Sunday we have our annual CE (Christian Endeavour) Service. Children from our CE will be taking part in the service, as will the Ballyhenry Puppets. Our all-age talk will be looking at the Christian 'What are you worth?'

Then at 7pm we meet for February's Prayer Central - an opportunity at the beginning of another month to gather together as a congregation, to seek God's face and acknowledge our reliance on him.
