Sandyknowes Blog

Living beside the busiest roundabout in Northern Ireland gives plenty of opportunity for watching the world go by. Sandyknowes Blog is the personal blog of Niall Lockhart (minister of Ballyhenry). Pull in and have a read…

This Sunday we meet for our morning service at 11am. We will be following on from last week's series looking at the topic of 'Christian Citizenship'. Having looked at this on the 'big scale' last week we see how the Bible pulls this whole issue down to earth as Jesus encourages His followers to see themselves as 'salt and light' - influencing those around them for Him in their day to day lives.

This Sunday we meet for worship in Ballyhenry at 11am and 7pm. Our morning service will see us exploring the theme of 'Christian Citizenship' as we think ahead, from a biblical perspective, to the upcoming EU Referendum. Niall will be speaking at the morning service. Provision during this service includes a supervised creche and Streetwise (our Summer Sunday School Programme).

I came across this sign recently - a sign for 'elderly people' with another sign above it reading 'One Way'. It made me think. People get older and as the years go by people get substantially older and eventually everyone (who lives long enough) becomes frail, dependant and elderly. In that sense life really is a one way street.

This Sunday we have our annual Children's Day Service when the children of Primetime and Beginners' Sunday School will be leading the service. Our special guest speaker will be Mr Mark Beattie, and the service will be followed by a picnic in the grounds of the church. We meet again at 7pm (prayertime at 6.30pm) for our evening service which will be on the theme of 'Faithfulness' with another guest, Mr David Morrison.

We meet this Sunday morning at 11am when the theme of our service will be 'Partners in Mission'. Two of our own members Ricky and Marlene Ferguson will be sharing with us about their work with Wycliffe Bible Translators. We are really looking forward to this opportunity, not simply to hear from Ricky and Marlene, but also to have our vision enlarged as we hear of Bible translation work around the world. Praise Group will be leading and there will also be a supervised creche / children's provision / teenage Bible Class.
