This Sunday - 12th June

This Sunday - 12th June

I came across this sign recently - a sign for 'elderly people' with another sign above it reading 'One Way'. It made me think. People get older and as the years go by people get substantially older and eventually everyone (who lives long enough) becomes frail, dependant and elderly. In that sense life really is a one way street.

This Sunday morning we come to the final part in our series on the life of David. We'll be working our way through the first two chapters of 1 Kings. When we met David at the beginning of our series (a few months ago) David was young and full of energy. Now however the years have gone by. David is not just older, David is elderly, and David is frail and dependant. Together on Sunday morning we will be exploring the themes, challenges, and ultimately the 'gospel' (good news) that emerges from the story of these final chapters in David's life. As usual our service will include Praise Group and supervised creche. We will also have the first Sunday of our summer children's programme entitled Streetwise. This programme (during church time) will see the children exploring a range of stories of all kinds of people whose lives were changed by meeting Jesus.

At 7pm we meet for June's 'Prayer Central'. Do be encouaged to set this time aside to join with us in prayer in the main church building as we prayer for one another, for our community and for the wider world. As we look forward to Sunday do pray that God's Word will come to us a living and transforming word.
