Sandyknowes Blog

Living beside the busiest roundabout in Northern Ireland gives plenty of opportunity for watching the world go by. Sandyknowes Blog is the personal blog of Niall Lockhart (minister of Ballyhenry). Pull in and have a read…

Here in Ballyhenry we are really looking forward to our Holiday Bible Club and our annual Meet the Neighbours Day.

Holiday Club runs from Monday 12th August - Friday 16th August. The club is for children who are going into P1 through to those who have been in P7. Each evening runs from 6.30pm-8.15pm. Children should be left off and collected each evening by an adult. There is no charge - activities include singing, Bible stories, drama, crafts and games. Always a great week - open to all within the local community.

This summer we look forward to our 11am morning services throughout the months of July and August. Each week we have a special Summer Sunday School (called Listen Up!), supervised creche and Bible Teaching, alongside music with our Praise Group.

Our evening services rest during July and August.

This Sunday in Ballyhenry our focus at both our morning and evening services will be on the opportunities that we have to be a church that sends people out in mission.

At 11am we welcome Lorna Moore back among us when she will be sharing about her work among students with Cui (part of IFES) and how that role has been developing and evolving in recent times.

Then at 7pm Ricky and Marlene Ferguson will be sharing about their ongoing involvement in the work of Bible translation with Wycliffe Bible Translators.

As June moves by we gather this Sunday at 11am for our morning service in Ballyhenry when we will be looking at Colossians chapter 4. Do be encouraged to read this part of the Bible before you come along - and watch out for how Paul links a big picture of Jesus with the amazing privilege that we have of being able to bring our prayers for daily life to Him.

We will have music by our praise group, including a new children's song, Summer Sunday School, supervised creche and teenage Bible Class.

This Sunday we meet in Ballyhenry for our morning service at 11am. We will be looking at Colossians 3 - the next part of Paul and Timothy's letter to the church in the city of Colossae - real people learning about what it means to follow Jesus in everyday life. As usual we have a supervised creche and children's provision - which this week sees the launch of our new Summer Sunday School programme entitled 'Listen Up!'
