Sandyknowes Blog

Living beside the busiest roundabout in Northern Ireland gives plenty of opportunity for watching the world go by. Sandyknowes Blog is the personal blog of Niall Lockhart (minister of Ballyhenry). Pull in and have a read…

This Sunday we meet in Ballyhenry for our annual Tearfund Service at 11am. Tearfund has been a longstanding partner of our congregation, over many years, and we look forward to being joined by Dr Stafford Carson who will be speaking with us on behalf of Tearfund.

Do be encouraged to join with us as we think together about what it means to be people who follow Jesus in contexts where the need is greatest.

Please note: because of ongoing work on our buildings there will be no 'Tearfund Lunch' on this occasion.

This Sunday we are on the move. Our morning service is taking place at the normal time (11am) but we are meeting in Ballyhenry Primary School. (This is due to the fact that work has been taking place over the past week on the floor of the Cliftonville Hall).

We are really appreciative to the Governors of the school for allowing us to use their facilities in this way.

This Sunday we meet at 11am in Ballyhenry. We've a mixture of things lined up for this week. Martin will be talking to us about our 2020 Cambodia team and Rev Ronnie Hetherington will be taking us into the next part of our series 'Church on the Move'. This week we arrive in Acts 4 where, following the healing of a paralysed man, Peter and John find themsleves on trial as the ruling authorities try to make sense of all that had been going on. As usual we have a supervised creche, full children's provision and teenage Bible Class.

This Sunday we meet in Ballyhenry for our morning service at 11am. This week we continue our series in Acts entitled 'Church on the Move'. We're looking at Acts 3 and the incredible story of a lame man being healed at the gate of the Temple. We'll be seeing how this story points us to who Jesus is and also opens a place in our hearts and minds for how this same Jesus, by His Spirit, continues to work today. We have a full children's provision and supervised creche.

Here in Ballyhenry we are looking forward to this Sunday when we gather together for worship at 11am. At the moment Sundays see us gathering in our hall (following on from our flood at the end of November). There's a lovely line in the very first book in Genesis, the very first book in the Bible. Jacob is on the move and at at a roadside place called Bethel he wakens after a dream, looks around him, and says 'Surely the LORD is in this place!' (Genesis 28 vs 16). It's a fantastic reminder that where God's people are there He is in their midst.
