Mums and Toddlers

Corinth was a busy cosmopolitan city in the first century Roman Empire - a melting pot of different cultures, religions and languages. It was to this city that Paul took the gospel. It wasn't easy but he saw people from different backgrounds becoming Christians and a church began to grow. It was to this church, in this city, that around 3 years years later Paul sat down to write a letter, that we now know as 1 Corinthians.

This Sunday we meet in Ballyhenry for morning church (11am-12pm). We're going to be looking at the next part in our series in the book of Acts entitled 'The Spreading Flame.' If you are planning on reading ahead read Acts ch 16 vs 1 - ch 18 vs 22 (a section in the Acts story sometimes referred to as 'Paul's Second Missionary Journey.')

In January 1977 Seamus Heaney gave a lecture in the Ulster Museum, under the title ‘The Sense of Place.’ In that lecture he talked about how the places where we live, and the places where we are from have a profound role in shaping who we are and how we look at the world.
