Sandyknowes Blog

Living beside the busiest roundabout in Northern Ireland gives plenty of opportunity for watching the world go by. Sandyknowes Blog is the personal blog of Niall Lockhart (minister of Ballyhenry). Pull in and have a read…

Summer is here and in Ballyhenry we look forward to meeting each Sunday throughout the summer for worship at 11am each Sunday. Our evening service format rests during the summer months.

Our services each week include a supervised creche, and special summer children's provision entitled 'Bible-bots'.

Looking ahead into August we are having our annual Holiday Club, running from Monday 13th - Friday 17th August (6.30pm-8.15pm).

Then on Saturday 18th August we look forward to our annual Meet the Neighbours Day (12pm-4pm).

This Sunday we get together in Ballyhenry for our special 'Children's Day' service. The kids from Primetime and Beginners' Sunday School will be singing and leading our service. Our gust speaker this Sunday is Nicky Bradley. Nicky is Director of Children's Ministry in Knock Presbyterian Church in East Belfast. After our service we are having an all age picnic - so do bring something along. If it's dry we will be outside, if wet we will go into the halls.

Every Sunday people from across our local community gather for worship in Ballyhenry at 11am and 7pm.

This week at our 11am service we will be having the second talk (in a two part series) looking at 'Choosing a New Congregational Commitee.' This week we will be thinking about the skills / competencies needed in terms of the responsibilities and roles that Committee has. Our kids will be taking the opportunity to practice for 'Children's Day' which is coming up next Sunday (3rd June).

This Sunday we meet in Ballyhenry at 11am and 7pm. At 11am we have our annual 'PW Service'. PW stands for 'Presbyterian Women' - an important and valued organisation within the life of Ballyhenry. Our guest speaker at our service will be Mrs Pauline Kennedy. Pauline is the Presbyterian Church in Ireland's 'Women's Ministry and PW Development Officer' and we look forward to having her visit with us. Our service will include a full children's provision and supervised creche.

This Sunday 13th May we meet in Ballyhenry at 11am and 7pm.

At our 11am service we will be taking time to remember the death of the Lord Jesus as we share together in bread and wine (communion). We will also be thinking in our service about choosing a new congregational committee. In particular we will be thinking about the character traits that the Bible encourages us to look for in those who would serve in this way. (This is ahead of us electing a new committee at the beginning of June). We will also be publicly receiving several individuals into full communicant membership.
