Sandyknowes Blog

Living beside the busiest roundabout in Northern Ireland gives plenty of opportunity for watching the world go by. Sandyknowes Blog is the personal blog of Niall Lockhart (minister of Ballyhenry). Pull in and have a read…

As another term begins this Sunday is a day of new beginnings.

At our 11am service we will be bidding farewell to our Assistant Minister, Mark Dodds, Claire and the family as they prepare to begin ministry in Eglish and Castlecaulfield Presbyterian Churches. Watch out for a guest appearance by the Ballyhenry Puppets, music with our Praise Group and a cup of tea after the service. Mark and Claire have been a real blessing to us in Ballyhenry and we look forward to sharing this special time with them.

This week the Bangor Worldwide Missionary Convention is taking place in Hamilton Road Presbyterian Church in Bangor. Bangor Worldwide has been meeting annually for over 80 years and brings together Christians with a heart for mission from many different churches and missions organisations.

Bible Readings each morning (Monday-Friday) are led this year by Paul Mallard, pastor of Widcombe Baptist Church in Bath.

A range of well respected speakers, from around the world, will be addressing the evening meetings.

A number of afternoon seminars are also taking place.

This Sunday Niall will be speaking on the raising of Lazarus and Jesus' words in John 11:25-26 'I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.'

This Sunday we meet in Ballyhenry for our morning service at 11am. As usual music will be led by our Praise Group and there will be a supervised creche and summer Sunday School programme. Our Bible teaching this week comes from John 8 vs 12 where Jesus said 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.' Niall will be giving our talk thinking about how the image of light is developed in the Old Testament and how the New Testament writers applied their conviction that Jesus really was who He said He was.
