Sandyknowes Blog

Living beside the busiest roundabout in Northern Ireland gives plenty of opportunity for watching the world go by. Sandyknowes Blog is the personal blog of Niall Lockhart (minister of Ballyhenry). Pull in and have a read…

This Sunday we meet at 11am for our morning service. Aas we continue our journey through John's Gospel our focus passage this week is John 3 vs 1-21. (To get the whole picture read John ch 2 vs 1 - ch 4 vs 54). Watch out this week for Nicodemus and how 'by night' this influential and respected religious leader came to speak with Jesus.

In our prayers this Sunday we hope to focus in on some of the 'forgotten' aspects of both local and global news rembering the small African country of The Gambia alongside praying for some of those who feel forgotten within our own society.

This Sunday morning we pick up the second part of our series in John's Gospel 'Journey into LIFE.' If you are reading ahead, read John 1 vs 19-51. Our Focus Passage will be John 1 vs 43-51; Jesus calls Philip and Nathanael. Through the course of John 1 we see different characters walk on stage, but by the end of the chapter the spotlight focuses firmly on Jesus - encouraging us to see Him for ourselves.

Morning service includes music with our Praise Group, supervised creche, full children's provision and teenage Bible Class.

This Sunday we meet for our morning service at 11am. This week we start out on a new journey - travelling through John's Gospel. Everyone coming to church this week will get a free copy of John's Gospel, to keep and to use as we go through this seires (which will take us up to Easter). Our morning service this week will also include communion, when we remember Jesus' death, as we share in bread and wine.

We have our full children's provision (including creche) and the Praise Group will be leading our praise.

Yesterday I downloaded a book from the Kindle Store called 'Do More Better - a Practical Guide to Productivity'.

This short, practical, book ties in with what we were looking at in church this morning - giving a Christian persepctive on how we can best use all that God has given us.

The book can be purchased from amazon by clicking here.

We meet this Sunday (New Year's Day) for our morning service at 11am. Trevor Long will be our guest speaker (Trevor is with us as part of the church's 'Auxiliary Ministry Scheme.')

Members of the Praise Group will be leading us and there will be a special New Year's Day children's provision. Do join us as together we meet in a context of praise and worship looking to the year that is to come.

There is no evening service on Sunday 1st January.
