A Prayer at the Beginning of a New Day

We've asked one of our members, Lisa Little, to write a prayer that we can use at the beginning of each new day. Thank you Lisa for writing this for us.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your great love and faithfulness, especially at such times as these as it brings us comfort and strength to know that you are with us every step of this journey.  We pray that you would comfort those who are isolated or feel alone, scared and confused by events.  We pray that those that need help are reaching out for it and getting the support they need.

Help us to be especially mindful of others and the difficulties they may face.  We pray for the frail and sick, and for those that worry about family and friends and those who are putting themselves at risk due to their work.

We pray for your protection over them and also for doctors and nurses, carers, and all key workers who help us to live our daily lives with the provision of food, medicine etc.  

We ask for guidance for those who make important decisions during this time, be it in Government, hospitals or the many businesses that are affected. Please help those that are worried about their jobs and livelihoods.  You know the difficulties we are facing and thank you that you are in control. We pray that this disease will be overcome sooner rather than later and that a vaccine will be sought.

As we read through the Psalms, thank you for the words that bring us comfort in Psalm 27 Verses 1, 13-14 "The Lord is my light and salvation - whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life - of whom shall I be afraid? I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."

We pray all these things in your precious name.
