'Therefore, brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus’ (Hebrews 3 vs 1)

A number of years ago I remember being up at the north and visiting the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge. To be honest I’m not great at heights and I was nervous at the thought of going across. But I remembered hearing somebody say that if you have to make a journey like that the trick is not to look up, nor to look down, but to fix your eyes on a fixed point up ahead and to walk steadily towards it.

Today we begin a new two week series for Facebook entitled Daily Words. The letter to the Hebrews was written to Christians who were living in tough times. Hebrews 3 vs 1 reminded them, and reminds us, that Christian faith is trust in Christ. Everyday, at the minute, there are so many voices that clamour for our attention, so many places we could fix our thoughts. At times like this it is very possible to look up, look down, and to get very shaky.

Over the next fourteen days we are going to take a Bible word each day that will help us fix our thoughts on Jesus, who He is, and what it means, to keep our eyes on Him in these uncertain times.

Prayer: Lord Jesus amidst the clamour and confusion of these days help me to pause and help me to fix my thoughts on You. So keep me steady today and in the days, that in Your will, are to come. Amen.
