Daily Strength - When Unsettled

Daily Strength - When Unsettled

‘You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.’ Isaiah 26 vs 3

People sometimes talk about young children being ‘unsettled’. It’s a word used to describe them when they are out of sorts, and when you just know that there’s something annoying them. The reality is that it’s not just babies or toddlers who through times like this, there can be times and seasons when we all feel unsettled.

The times we live in are unsettling times. All around us things are not the way we would want them to be and not the way they are meant to be. Day by day, week by week, we can increasingly find ourselves ‘out of sorts’ and it’s not a nice feeling.

The book of Isaiah, like so many Bible books, was written in the midst of extremely unsettling times. Like a strong and steadying hand, Isaiah 26 vs 3 takes hold of us as we begin another week. Here is a life infusing invitation, to steady our minds by focusing our trust, on a Lord and Saviour who does not change and who wants His children to find and experience peace whatever the seasons or circumstances within which they live.

Prayer: Father God steady me today. Focus my mind on You. Help me to trust in You. Help me to know and to feel Your peace. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
